SB 471 -- CHILD SUPPORT ORDERS

SPONSOR:  Bartle (Byrd)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Judiciary by a vote of 18 to 0.

This bill deletes the requirement that the Division of Family
Services must file all income withholding orders with the circuit
clerk in child support cases.

FISCAL NOTE:  Estimated Net Savings to General Revenue Fund of
$6,300 in FY 2004, $7,790 in FY 2005, and $8,024 in FY 2006.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill eliminates a
time-consuming and expensive procedure that no longer serves any
purpose.

Testifying for the bill were Senator Bartle; and Office of State
Courts Administrator.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
